Welcome 👋

You have arrived to Virtually Human. I'm thrilled to have you here. In this space, we'll be delving into the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Our journey will explore the rise of AI, its history, importance, limitations, risks, and much more. Together, we'll uncover the story behind AI, understanding how it has evolved and why it matters in today's world. So, buckle up for an enlightening journey filled with knowledge and discovery.

Before we start, what even is artificial intelligence?

Artificial Intelligence, often abbreviated as AI, is a technology that allows machines to mimic human intelligence. These machines are programmed to understand, learn, and solve problems in the same way as humans do. AI assists computers in processing information, recognising patterns, and making judgements, making them intelligent and capable of activities that would normally need human thought. This technology is employed in a variety of applications, ranging from voice assistants to self-driving automobiles, to improve the convenience and efficiency of our lives.

In this short video, the Duke University team breaks down the basics of AI in a clear and concise way. They explain that there are different types of AI, such as machine learning, speech recognition, computer vision and more. They also touch on how AI can identify patterns, make predictions and recommend actions by collecting data.

Diverse Perspectives: Exploring Different Viewpoints

Exploring the realm of AI wouldn't be complete without acknowledging the diverse perspectives of people worldwide. It's essential to consider the global landscape to truly grasp the impact of artificial intelligence. So, let's explore intriguing data from the Pew Research Center, offering insights into this vast and varied world.

Brazilians overwhelmingly believe using robots and computers to do work that is currently being done by humans would make it harder for people to find jobs, which would result in inequality becoming worse.
In various public contexts, men tend to express more optimism about artificial intelligence compared to women.
In Malaysia, elder people have more positive views regarding artificial intelligence than younger people do.
People in France are especially doubtful: Only 37% of people believe that society will benefit from the advancement of artificial intelligence.
The majority of the Asian public surveyed by Pew Research Centre see AI as a good thing for society.
In Australia, 59% of individuals with higher education levels believe AI has generally had a positive impact on society, compared to 42% of those with lower education levels.
